It's been a while since I've posted anything on my blog........so I thought talking
about my biopsy result was worthwhile posting. I found out a few weeks ago
that I had malignant melanoma. I just thought it was an ugly mole. Well, it
was skin cancer. Fortunately, my doctor was on top of it and I have a GREAT
dermatologist. My regular family care doctor had me sent in for an MRI/x-rays
last Friday.....and even a diagnostic mammogram since she felt a lump in my right breast last
week. Well, I had the mammogram just on Monday when Lacey
drove me out to the southern portion of Deer Valley, and it turned out that
this lump is lots of extra tissue. Even the mammogram specialist/doctor had
more pictures/ultrasounds done to make certain this is all it was. And they
were able to discover that my lymph nodes are clear as well. WHEW!!!
Yesterday, my mom took me to the dermatologist to have more of the area
cut out on my right leg to make sure to get all of the melanoma. They did about
a 4 inch incision in the shape of an elongated diamond. It hurts right now, but
she did a great job suturing it up very well. I almost threw up about 3 x's with it
but then felt fine when she was sewing it back together. My dermatologist told
me that it's a lateral superficial melanoma and that the pathologist said it hasn't
grown down vertically! AMEN!
My father/sister had the same thing too, so it runs in the family! I will get
more test results back next week! And they will hopefully find out as to whether
or not I have rheumatoid arthritis in my back with all of the tests as well. Let's just
say that I feel really blessed and am so thankful for the grace of God to have
this melanoma just be superficial!
Life is full of amazing things! I'll attach pictures soon. :) Kathy
I am glad everything worked out for you. I have had the scare of lumps in my breasts a few time. Extra Tissue and milk lumps. Breast cancer runs in the family so I always freak out to say the least. I am glad everything is taking care of and working out for you.
ReplyDeleteSo glad all has turned out well! How scary! You must be more of a trooper than me, because I don't think I'd stay conscious through an incision anywhere on me! :0)
ReplyDeleteLove you Kathy! So glad things are ok. Ü
ReplyDeleteHow scary, I'm so glad to hear everything turned out alright though!
